Intern Resident Firefighter Qualifications
Each year, typically in the fall, the Eagle River Fire District conducts a testing and interview process for admission to the program. After an intense and thorough 12-16 week academy, resident interns are assigned to a shift and work five 48-hour shifts each month. In turn, they are provided: no-cost housing in one of six fire stations, monetary compensation for a number of shifts worked, and a tuition paid scholarship. The Intern Resident Ffirefighter works with professional firefighters, participates in all training and responds to emergency calls within the district while on their designated shift.
