Community Involvement

More than 20,000 individuals are injured each year because of preventable fires in the United States. While a big part of what we do at ERFPD is responding to emergency situations, we’re equally concerned with preventing those situations before they occur. Our staff and firefighters work as safety educators for the Eagle River Valley community to help minimize deaths and injuries.

Our community outreach efforts include wildfire mitigation and fuels reduction, creating home escape plans and car seat safety and installation for new parents among others.

But just because we take the subject seriously, it doesn’t mean we can’t have fun while teaching. You can learn more about staying safe at one of our many public events: Family Fun Fest, Camp 911, July 4th, and Fire Prevention Week.
